Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: This is a light but meaningful thought. I am or used to be an expert worrier. I am working very hard to shed that crown. I don’t want to be the queen of worry. It takes a lot of attention to your thoughts as well as planning for other options. You have to have some other concept, image or idea to focus on when you recognize you’re worrying. To just recognize it isn’t good enough. Find something you like to put your mind to once you realize what you’re doing. Once you have a list of desirable things, you’re good to go. Catch yourself worrying. Perhaps you need more of an incentive to divert your mind. Make a worry jar perhaps. When you see that you’re worrying and do NOT change your mind’s direction, you have to put x amount of money in the jar. Find something like that which will keep you on track. Remember that you are wasting energy by spending time on things you cannot control. Most things we worry about are beyond our control so why go down that road. Find something you can control – either something relative to that problem or totally separate. What’s key is that you must pick something that you definitely can control. Then you can take action and that will also help you travel down a positive road! Which road are you going to take? A new one or the same old one?

Daily Gratitude: It’s hard for me to know how to write about this for others. It’s taken me 75 years to learn to trust myself. But I will admit that I do know how to live and what living is. It took all those years to learn how to regulate my nervous system enough that my brain could engage in something other than fear and protection thoughts. Once my nervous system was liberated, the amount of emotions and experiences I was able to process has been quite enjoyable. Trusting yourself as a human being and not as an animal (which is the way one behaves when they have an unregulated nervous system) will allow you to trust yourself and others. Most of you know whether you trust yourself or not. Work on it by yourself if you need to. Or ask others to help. That’s not so easy when you don’t trust others yet but that could be a step towards the trust – ask for help.

Daily Gratitude: To follow along with our “what’s a win” theme this fits perfectly. People can cheer you on and give you advice and encouragement but it has to get past that armor that your limiting beliefs have created. I was never able to make any cracks in that armor. But something must have been happening subtly just like the damage to foundations here in Texas. But in my case it was a positive though invisible happening. Then in 2022, a 5 minute (or less) talk by a wonderful woman, split that crack to the size of the San Andreas fault and my life changed. Since that time I know what winning is and what defines winning for me. I never really knew before. You have to go deep inside and figure out what your core beliefs are and whether they are limiting or freeing. Most of us have limiting beliefs from childhood. Many have nothing else but some do and those winning beliefs are the ones we want to capitalize on. Do your self- analysis and then work on correctly the limiting beliefs
