Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: Remember the post about “luck”? This is definitely related to that. Look at all the great people in the world and find out how long they worked at their skill or desire. Everyone uses Edison as an example of this and it’s true. But take any professional orchestra member – most of the masters have practiced over 10,000 hours. So stop feeling like a failure when you can’t do something after a few weeks or months of trying something new. Keep at it. If you like it and it’s worth it to you, keep going. You will get there.

Along the lines of our recent discussion of doing what you desire vice what others have convinced you to desire. Here’s another indication. Are you happy even when you “fail”? I was at the Ohio race. I was extremely happy even though I dropped out of the race very early. That told me that the things that I did accomplish which were not measurable in miles were things I wanted to do! I had the freedom to do the things I wanted. And since I liked meeting and being with all those people I was happy. Nothing can take that away from me. How does this apply to you?

Daily Gratitude: How much more simple can a secret to life be? You hear people tell you to just do the best you can. Add to this the rest of the quote and that’s all you ever need to do. Life really is simple and i always wonder why we make it so much more complicated. Believe me i do my fair share of making mountains out of molehills. It takes so much energy and can be confusing too. I used to feel like the little girl in the exorcist because I was trying to make whomever I was around happy. How horrible was that for me? I can’t even tell you. I am merely glad I was able to get past that phase of my life. It was then that i realized I was making things too complicated. It still took me 40 more years to figure out how to make it simple. So it’s not easy. Just keep working at it.
