Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: We’ve talked about fear before and how it can totally take over your life. And I think this quote is correct – that once you understand a situation, your fear markedly diminishes. This even applies to feelings. Many people fear their anxious feelings because they don’t really know what’s going on. The chemicals released in anxiety states makes the body react weirdly- it’s not really weird, it’s just that we’re not used to those sensations. If they go to a doctor or therapist and have it all explained to them, they get reassured they aren’t dying (even though it may have felt like it). Once they understand what is going on, it’s not as likely to lead to the fear. At that point they can learn how to manage either what’s causing the anxiety or their response. This applies to anything you’re afraid of too, not just anxiety. I talked about that because so many people don’t understand their feelings. Fear has lots of acronym explanations such as false evidence appearing real but I really think that’s not true. There are many times where fear is warranted. Want another one? How about Face the fear, Acknowledge what’s going on, Embrace the situation and the thing you’re fearing, and Respond. That’s a much better action oriented description. Try to understand whatever is happening and then try to understand why you’re feeling afraid. Then you can take action.

Daily Gratitude: I don’t know about you but I printed this out and put it on a wall that I pass all the time. Think about this for a bit. You know how annoying one mosquito can be. Or even a fly. On my trip to Colorado a fly got caught in the car and was buzzing around and crossing in front of my eyes or landing on my arms. Talk about distracting. When you want to change the world (and it may be just your world), you may need to he a “pest” in order to get people to pay attention to you and what you’re doing. You may not see changes right away but keep at it and the changes will come. Persistence is the most important quality you can have. Be a mosquito!

Daily Gratitude: This is a follow on to the breathing and relaxation post of yesterday. When you find yourself without any ideas and feeling anxious and worried about anything you’re experiencing, the first thing to do is recognize that you’re in that state, stop and practice your breathing. Your plans and goals won’t go anywhere. But once you’re relaxed, you’ll be able to clear your head and allow the universe to bring you ideas about what to do next. Sometimes just the break will allow you to receive those ideas and help you get a fresh start. Once you’re spinning your wheels, they will only continue in that manner unless you break the cycle. Relaxing and putting your mind somewhere else is the way to go. Then when you go back to your project or goal, you’ll be surprised at the ideas that you’ll have. If no new ideas, at least you’ll have a new, refreshed attitude!
