Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: We’ve talked about fear before and how it can totally take over your life. And I think this quote is correct – that once you understand a situation, your fear markedly diminishes. This even applies to feelings. Many people fear their anxious feelings because they don’t really know what’s going on. The chemicals released in anxiety states makes the body react weirdly- it’s not really weird, it’s just that we’re not used to those sensations. If they go to a doctor or therapist and have it all explained to them, they get reassured they aren’t dying (even though it may have felt like it). Once they understand what is going on, it’s not as likely to lead to the fear. At that point they can learn how to manage either what’s causing the anxiety or their response. This applies to anything you’re afraid of too, not just anxiety. I talked about that because so many people don’t understand their feelings. Fear has lots of acronym explanations such as false evidence appearing real but I really think that’s not true. There are many times where fear is warranted. Want another one? How about Face the fear, Acknowledge what’s going on, Embrace the situation and the thing you’re fearing, and Respond. That’s a much better action oriented description. Try to understand whatever is happening and then try to understand why you’re feeling afraid. Then you can take action.

Daily Gratitude: I don’t know about you but I printed this out and put it on a wall that I pass all the time. Think about this for a bit. You know how annoying one mosquito can be. Or even a fly. On my trip to Colorado a fly got caught in the car and was buzzing around and crossing in front of my eyes or landing on my arms. Talk about distracting. When you want to change the world (and it may be just your world), you may need to he a “pest” in order to get people to pay attention to you and what you’re doing. You may not see changes right away but keep at it and the changes will come. Persistence is the most important quality you can have. Be a mosquito!

Daily Gratitude: I always “knew” that the experts recommend writing out your goals. Then putting them somewhere you’ll see them many times a day. I had never done that before this year. Amongst other goals was something I felt strongly about in January when i made the list. I wanted to find a way to help others be able to afford hearing aids. My life was so positively impacted by the addition of hearing aids that I wanted others to be able to enjoy life more. Good hearing aids are expensive. I’d had the cheaper ones before and they stunk. But a good friend recommended Miracle Ear. I made an appointment and have never looked back. But, how could I help others have the same advantage as i did. That has been on my list for a year and every time I look at it, i think that I should delete it because “it’s never going to happen.” You see, i was trying to “outline” how it was going to happen. The universe resists outlining above almost everything else. I am a mere human being. Who am I to think i know exactly how something should develop? Who put me in charge? This is a common mistake people make with their goals and here i was making the same one i caution against. Today i had to have my annual hearing exam with Miracle Ear. As i was sitting waiting to be seen, i looked at a brochure that was new to me. i don’t think they had them out the other times I’d been there. What’s staring me in the face is a “You can donate to this foundation and we provide hearing aids to people who meet certain qualifications.” Wow, right there was the answer to my “unachieved goal”. I popped up and asked the receptionist to help me with it. And she did. I donated and can donate as much and as often as I might see fit. See, the universe knew there was a way. and it was a way in which I didn’t have to work very hard. I didn’t have to create a foundation or cause from the ground up. How easy was it once I let the Universe help me. Write down your goals. Start thinking about them now. There’s not much time left before the new year.
P.S. after I wrote this I went into the bathroom where I have the list of goals in two places. This means I see them a lot. As I looked down that list I realized I am currently completing another one – decluttering three rooms. I had started that two weeks ago and didn’t really know why because decluttering is certainly not on my happy list. What these two things show is that when you read your list daily and many times a day, they get embedded in your subconscious and you WILL take action on them. I am amazed at how beautifully this has been demonstrated
