Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: This is so beautiful. And so useful. We can spend a long time trying to find some sort of meaning in what we do. Once we do, though, then it’s time to realize that we must give it away in order for that meaning to be meaningful.

A purpose has to be about other people somehow. How can we spread our knowledge and compassion to others to help enrich their lives? That ought to be a question we ask ourselves every morning.

Most people go through life searching for their purpose without realizing they have to find the meaning first. They have to find something that strikes them deeply. Something they are passionate about. Something they live and breathe every minute of every day. They need to find that before they can begin with their purpose – the giving it away. I loved medicine. I wanted to be in the “blood and guts” constantly. I was passionate about medicine. But my purpose was to use it to help others – to give it away.

This can seem a bit tricky but if you take some time to contemplate it or meditate on it, I think it will become clearer.

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: As we near the end of the year, it’s a good time to reflect on what happened in your life, how it happened (was it by chance or by change for instance), and what lessons you learned.

I probably mention this every year but I don’t think people take the time to do it. Why? Because the past is only fading deeper into the rear view mirror and as you get farther away from something, you generally only remember the highlights unless you take time to think about it.

I’ve finished my first review and now I will be going back to the list and take another look at how it happened. there are no accidents so everything that happened had an origin back even beyond the event. This will be fun. Why? Because I surprised myself already by noticing the categories everything on my list fell into.

I also know that when I can determine how they came about and what led up to them I can get a better idea of what I want to do more of and what I want to eliminate from my life.

This review of my past year will become the roadmap for the new year. That’s pretty special if you ask me.

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: As we get all ramped up for the beginning of the year, let us remember this quote.

You have to start small. If you don’t, I bet you’ll miss some things that are crucial elements of your basic foundation.

Take all those goals on your 2026 list and break them down. I’m sure you can remember all my posts on “chunking”. It’s fine to have a single goal list but then why not make a goal notebook. A 3 ring binder that can be sectioned off – one section per goal. This is where you can add one or as many sheets of paper as you need. One can have your original chunks. Then maybe a piece of paper for each chunk. Make this a goal workbook. It doesn’t do you any good to have a list of goals you never do anything with.

Think about this. Make your goal or project achievement easy for yourself. And yes you can use a computer if you have an app that can enable you to do the dividing up and adding as needed.
