Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: Again we’ve talked about this before but since I’m a big fan of programming our subconscious mind, I will repeat these things frequently. You can scroll past. Do you take an inventory at the end of each day? Wouldn’t that be a great idea? You could figure out whether you consider your day a success. Some call this the “pillow test”, meaning that when you put your head on the pillow, you can be happy with what you accomplished. Why do it at the end of the day instead of the next morning? Things are fresher in your mind (especially the details. AND it gives your subconscious mind material to process during the night as you sleep. If you decide that you’re happy you did a lot of “x” but would like to do less of “y”, then your subconscious can work on how to construct your thoughts and your day around those desires. Your subconscious is powerful and we don’t take advantage of it nearly enough. Try it for a week or two and see how your days and achievements improve.

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: It’s important for each individual to know this. We can talk all we want about our plans and ideas and ideals and anything else you want to talk about. But how are others supposed to assess you? By your words? No. They will assess you but your actions. After all, your actions reflect your values in most cases. They will show what you’re made of much more than statements. I always remember people discussing this when discussing people who always go to church on Sunday and act as if they are the most righteous person around. Then the other 6 days (or even 6.5), they are mean and rude and full of anger and hate. You can see that at work or in sports as well. How many sports figures praise God when they win but beat their significant others off the court or field? Don’t be one of these people. They are the ones I consider to have imposter syndrome although it’s used in a different manner (which as usual I don’t agree with since it’s not uncommon for everyone to have to act in their professional lives but that’s another subject). Just remember to align yourself with your core values!

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: This came from a decluttering program so you can set that they are just trying to get you to take some action, no matter how small. However, it’s such a great quote to apply to the rest of your life. One of the biggest changes in my life was falling in love with running – which I had previously abhorred. But after I had surgery for my torn ACL I wondered if I could run to cover first base since softball season was coming. I was unhappy with myself since I couldn’t even run to the light pole. So I took some small steps with a goal of running to the end of the block (.35 mile). Once I was able to do that I had fallen in love. But did I then say “oh this is cool, I’m going to do a 314 mile race”? Heck no. I had to build up and take many many steps along the way. And yes they all did count. You may not even know what your ultimate goal might be but just take some action and then the next step etc. You’ll be surprised I think.
