Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: We’ve talked about this before but it can never be discussed enough.

I was at breakfast the other day with a friend. We ordered and when the waitress brought our food she told us it had been paid for by someone. We were both astounded and had no idea who would do this or why.

But I’ll tell you how it made my day. It was a small act of kindness and neither of us needed the money. But it meant so much because this person just wanted to do something nice and didn’t care if we deserved it, needed it, or wanted it. They just did something that made him feel good because they knew it would make us feel good.

The positive vibrations in that person and in both of us were sent out to the universe and as a result more positivity is created. And Lord knows we need as much positivity as we can get.

Don’t just sit there and say “I should do something like that”. That’s an intention. But it’s not really worth anything unless you take some action. Without action it’s just talk.

What small act of kindness can you do today instead of just talking about an intention?

Daily Gratitude: My second favorite saying is “this, too, shall pass”. I have to remind myself frequently but i definitely believe it. Just like “everything always works out for me” has been proven over and over again in my life so has this phrase.

You can get through anything. It may seem like it takes forever but the time will pass. And so will the circumstances.

Talk with someone; ask for help; write about it. All these things will help you realize that things will change. Good things will pass too.

Reviewing your past will help you know that this is true. That’s a big benefit for journaling. It gives you an opportunity to look back and see that this saying has been true in the past. So there is no reason not to believe it won’t come true again this time. It will pass.

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: it’s so easy to get hung up on the skills we don’t have. Then we repeat that the harder we try to overcompensate

This is not to say we shouldn’t continue to try to improve but there may be a point when you realize that “this” (whatever “this” is for you), is not something that’s doing to be your forte.

We all need to take an inventory of what we are good at, what we aren’t that great at, or what we really stink at.

We will have greater success if we then take the things we’re good at and concentrate on getting better at them.

Take leadership for example. You should concentrate on what you’re good at such as getting people on your staff motivated and wanting to do their best for you. But let’s say math or budgeting is not your strong point. You need to know the basics but you can delegate that job to someone who enjoys it and is good at it. Once you know enough to make sure you can oversee that persons work, then you can focus on your strengths.

That will decrease your stress and it will also help the others on your staff feel as if you recognize their talents and you trust them. There’s plenty of good that comes from that.

What are your strengths?
