Daily Hotline Message

Happy Halloween to the best group of ghosts and goblins I know

Today I want to talk about something that will make your declarations, affirmations or manifestations even better. If you’re not a believer that’s ok because you can use this easygoing phrase in your everyday life.

What is it? It’s this. Tack on to every wish or desire “This or something better”

For example with my search for a car last year I declared that I wanted a van that had certain characteristics which I defined but you don’t need to hear and added “this or something better”. I was going into that search think I was going to pay an exorbitant amount to get a new van. But adding the “this or something better” brought to me the used vehicle that is absolutely perfect for me.

When you decide how to get whatever it is you’re after, you stop the creative power of the universe. I talked about that last weekend when we talked about Karin’s play. We are minions and have no idea of the resources at the hand of the universe. So why cut off the supply by determining how your desire is to be delivered. Let the master figure it out. Your job is just to decide what you’re after. This is a spinoff of Dr Gilbert talking about what you really want. The more you really want something in any realm the more likely the universe is to bring it.

For instance Aaron’s declaring – or he better be- that his employees are loyal, dedicated, motivated to work for him and are filled with integrity. I know it sounds weird but he should add on “this or something better” and see what happens

Karin can affirm that she raises enough money to pay for all her needs to get the Dust of Egypt produced and in front of powerful critics, adding “This or something better.” Even if you can’t imagine what something better is. You don’t have to. The universe knows

Speaking of words and things we say I had two things said to me in the last two days that were significant.

One woman said she did a lot of journaling about the relationship between her mind and her body. She said that it was an eye opener. That’s the eye as a part of communication as well as referencing the third eye and Intuition. Pretty telling.

The other person said their doctor told them it was inflammation causing her grief. Just a normal expression, right? No. She has been experiencing grief on several levels so this too was a perfect association. It is revealing to listen to yourself talk in addition to asking others to listen and bring up phrases that could have a deeper meaning

Be safe out there trick or treating and remember to set your clocks back on Saturday.

Daily Gratitude

.Daily Gratitude: This is one of the most important concepts you can embrace these days. It’s hard to feel at peace when you look at the news and all that’s happening in our cities- things previously thought about when considering “other” countries.

All the uproar is screwing up our nervous systems. And most of us don’t even realize it. We may feel “uneasy”, whatever that means. Some may even identify the feeling as “anxiety”. No matter what label you impose on those feelings, it is the release of survival chemicals because your brain and its allies (at least something has allies) are preparing for war – that is how they interpret your environment if you let it rush past you untamed.

You’re probably thinking “But what the heck can I do?”.

The most important answer here is to find a way to calm your nervous system and do as we said in the Navy – send all those troops (the components of your nervous system) back to “shore duty”.

Find a way (breathing, meditation, yoga, walking, whatever) to calm your inner being.

You will be ineffective at anything until you do. It’s the old “put your oxygen mask on before you put them on your kids” theory.

I recently read a book that has me contemplating its main idea – that there is a difference between a thought and thinking and that thinking is what causes our negative thoughts.

There are parts of this I am not totally accepting right now but I am examining what goes on between my ears more closely now and there is a great degree of truth in his idea.

Anyway, the point is to stop and take some deep breaths when things seem to be going poorly. It will help until you can find another way to help calm you down (meditate when you have time for example).

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude: Another post on “pain”.  One reason people have trouble embracing the neuroplastic or mind- body approach and understanding of chronic pain is that doctors are kind of “caught in the middle”. It goes way back. Patients want “answers” but they also want fixes – quick fixes. Usually a pill or a shot or even surgery to help them feel and get better – yesterday!  Instant gratification at its finest. So, doctors everything they can to find an answer for you. They do lab and xray and fancy studies. They try to find anything they can to figure out what’s  wrong so you can have an answer (a diagnosis) and they can prescribe a treatment plan.  The majority of patients would NOT accept a diagnosis of neural circuit (or neuroplastic) pain disorder because they would think the doctor was saying it was “all in their head”. As an aside, I feel sorry for the poor old brain because it is the cause of all pain (even when there is some structural abnormality involved, the pain sensation is generated by the brain). It’s not the brain’s fault it happens to reside inside the skull – aka the head.  Anyway, what people who specialize in neuroplastic pain medicine have discovered is that in back pain, for example, the presence of abnormal X-ray findings does NOT automatically correlate with someone’s pain.  I’ve seen many a person with totally normal radiological studies that were completely incapacitated by their back pain. And then I’ve seen the most horrible looking back X-rays in an infantry soldier working full time carrying over 50-100 pounds on his back.  My own recent experience cemented that for me. As part of the evaluation for my fractured clavicle they got X-rays of my shoulder.  This is what the report says: “End-stage glenohumeral (shoulder) osteoarthritis”. So I looked up what this meant: “final phase of a progressive joint disease where the cartilage in the shoulder joint has worn away, causing bones to rub directly against each other. This leads to severe pain, significant loss of movement and function, and a grinding or clicking sensation.”  So what you’re asking? Well I may have some clicking at times but I have great use of my shoulder (well at least I did before this injury and intend to after it’s healed too). I do weight training and have no problems with my daily activities.  This is a perfect example of how the findings don’t always correlate with your symptoms. You have to look beyond the obvious, digging deeper into the well – the well of the mind! If you do, you’ll have a much better chance of recovering than if you just stick to X-ray or lab findings.  Don’t blame your doctor though. Patients don’t accept this so they have learned to look for something everyone will believe
